This ceremony was performed at \u017di\u010da, a glorious 13th-century monastery on the edge of the city decorated with original frescos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you have a penchant for medieval art and history you\u2019re in luck because the fairytale Magli\u010d Castle and many more monasteries are all close to Kraljevo. Magli\u010d rises far above the Ibar River, which itself is a sight for sore eyes in early May when lilacs planted in medieval times burst into flower. And in medieval times a Serbian king wasn\u2019t officially the king until he\u2019d been anointed at \u017di\u010da, so from the 13th century on seven kings were crowned here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">There\u2019s a neat symmetry to this fact, as the monastery also has seven doors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The church\u2019s frescos are fabulous, the oldest going back to the 1200s and portraying scenes like the Dormition of the Mother of God and the Orthodox staple, Christ Pantocrator.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">2. This space has a lot of gravitas on street level and you may spend some time there as it\u2019s home to the tourist office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the centre is an impressive monument to the fallen in the Second Balkan War and the First World War, inaugurated in 1932<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">8. Holy Trinity Cathedral<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Kraljevo\u2019s cathedral has an intriguing origin story, also involving the first prince.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107 spent time in Kraljevo during the Second Serbian Uprising at the start of the 19th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He made his camp on the site where the church stands today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">At the time there was just a small wooden building to serve as a Christian place of worship in Ottoman tomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Milo\u0161 is said to have made a vow to God that he would build this church if he helped him defeat the Turks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">After liberation Milo\u0161 fulfilled his promise and the building was erected between 1824 and 1839.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">9.
