This itinerary connects Central Europe and Eastern Europe with the Adriatic coast, which was used by ancient Romans for the purpose of connecting Dalmatia and Pannonia. Banjaluka is the intersection of regional itineraries on the east-west direction as well as the southeast- southwest direction that connect the Town with Prijedor, Doboj, Derventa, Tesli\u0107, Klju\u010d and other places. In addition, the whole region is intersected by concrete roads of local importance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Zagreb is around 167 kilometres away from Banja Luka. If you come to Banja Luka from Zagreb enter the motorway E70 to east and Belgrade. On the kilometre 106, from Zagreb, in the place Oku\u010dani come out of the motorway and turn right to the road E661 and drive south to border crossing of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Gradi\u0161ka (11kilometers). From Gradi\u0161ka you continue via the same road (E661) to south and Banja Luka (50kilometers).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Beograd is 350 kilometres away from Banja Luka. If you come to Banja Luka from Belgrade, enter the highway E70 to west and Zagreb. On the kilometre 300 in the place Oku\u010dani come out from the highway and turn right to the road E661 and drive south to border crossing of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Gradi\u0161ka (11kilometers). From Gradi\u0161ka you continue via the same road (E661)to south and Banja Luka (50kilometers).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sarajevo is around 250 kilometres away from Banja Luka. If you come to Banja Luka from Sarajevo go to southwest to the place Kakanj and highway E-73 and on that road and the sixtieth kilometre you have two different roads that lead to Banja Luka. The first, better and longer, continues via the road E73 to north and places Zenica and Maglaj, and on the seventeenth kilometre from Doboj turn left and continue the trip towards Derventa, Prnjavor and Kla\u0161nice. In Kla\u0161nice you turn left and enter the highway M16 (E661) and continue driving 16 kilometre south for Banjaluka. Banja Luka is now known for a large number of green areas (parks and tree-lined roads) because of which is called &#8220;a city of greenery&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The most common tree in the urban green space is a horse\u00a0<strong>chestnut tree,<\/strong>\u00a0but there are also linden, plane tree, spruce and many other species of ornamental woody plants. In the city and its vicinity there are three spas (Srpske toplice, Slatina and Lakta\u0161i) with mineral water, whose healing properties were used even in the ancient times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">An interesting nature reserve is connected with<strong>\u00a0mineral water sources in Srpske toplice.<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a word about the population of maidenhair fern (Adiantum capillus veneris L.), which is a Tertiary relic, very rear in the continental part of Europe. An especially important nature reserve is the\u00a0<strong>Vrbas River<\/strong>\u00a0which represents the main watercourse in Banja Luka. Vrbas, with his blue-green colour and landscapes that creates on its way from the mountain Zec to the River Sava, is one of the most beautiful river in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its tributaries Pliva, Ugar, Krupa, Rekavica, \u0160vrakava, Suturlija and Vrbanja give special beauty to Vrbas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Cutting its way through the rocks, from Jajce do Banja Luka, Vrbas has created a fantastic canyon where you will find a series of natural rarities. Rapids, waterfalls, cascades, beaches, surrounding rocks, and the wealth of flora and fauna make this region specific. The\u00a0<strong>Vrbas Canyon<\/strong>\u00a0is the habitat of numerous relict and endemic plant and animal species that represent the specific ecosystem of the canyon. Vrbas leaves the canyon in the city and from the mountain flow and starts its flow through the valley. This river is characterized by rare and precious species of fish in the salmon family, such as brown trout, grayling and salmon, which indicates a very high quality of water and specific fish stocks. In Vrbas, especially in the lower reaches, can be found cyprinid fish species such as chub, carp, barbel, carp, and there are also catfish, bass, perch and bullhead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Many events and sports competitions are held on the river Vrbas. Special attractions are water sports for which this river provides excellent conditions. Vrbas is a host to many national and European kayak\/canoe sport competitions on wild rivers, rafting and fly-fishing.
