By its geographical position it belongs to a temperate continental climate suitable for tourism development during the whole year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Prijedor iz druge perspektive\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RmBcxdbWGKg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Source: Darko Vujasinovic<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In one year all four season are present with average monthly temperature varying from -1.1 \u25e6C in January to 20.1\u25e6C in July. The absolute minimum of -30 \u25e6C is in January, and the absolute maximum of 40 \u25e6C is in August.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Prijedor municipality is connected with other municipalities, regions and countries through a network of railways and roads. In the area of Prijedor municipality there are 70 km of main roads, 62.4 km of regional roads, 142.1 km of local roads and 600 km of uncategorized roads.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">According to the estimation, presenty, there are around 105.000 inhabitants living in the area of Prijedor municipality, of whom 48%\u00a0 are urban and 52% are rural.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Natural movement and biological reproduction have an important role in social, economical and spatial demographical development of every country and population. In period from 1999 to 2002 negative tendencies in population movement were observed through decrease in birth rate and increase in mortality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The population of Prijedor comprises also people of other nationalities such as Czechs, Roma, Slovenians, Ukrainians, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Prijedor became an important commercial and trade centre thanks to Roman roads and navigation of the Sana river, as well as the first railway built in 1873.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Strong development Prijedor Municipality had after the World War II. Bearers of development were Iron Ore Mines and Celpak Cellulose and Paper Factory. Attractive potential for different kinds of common investment presents mineral deposits and mineral water of the Ljubija Mine.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Prijedor municipality is connected with other municipalities, regions and countries through a network of railways and roads. Traffic network is one of the most important networks of every country. It is not possible to imagine a developed country without a good traffic system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">By air line Prijedor is 110 km away from Zagreb and 45 km from Banja Luka. Prijedor is connected to the railway Sunja \u2013 Novi Grad \u2013 Prijedor \u2013 Banja Luka \u2013 Doboj and to the main road Novi Grad \u2013 Prijedor \u2013 Banja Luka and Kozarska Dubica \u2013 Prijedor \u2013 Sanski Most \u2013 Klju\u010d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the last few years important progress in telecommunications has been made. New capacities have been installed which allow connection with every country in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Telecommunications include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8211; modern telecommunication network \u2013 8 post officies;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8211; mobile phone network \u00a0\u2013 3 operators;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8211; 5 internet providers use telecommunication network;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8211; dial up and wireless connection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitprijedor.com\/new\/images\/heder\/grad-prijedor-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Geographical postion and the fact that Prijedor is situated on river banks of the Sana river and on a downhill of gentle Kozara mountain create immense potentials for tourism development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Kozara<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Mountain<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Kozara is a Dinaric mountain situated in the north-west part of Republic of Srpska. It stretches among courses of the Sava river in the north, the Vrbas river in the east, the Sana river in the south and the Una river in the west. It is a low mountain of dynamic relief whose peaks are not higher than 1.000 m of an altitude. The highest peaks are Lisina at an altitude of 978 m and Rudine at 920 m.\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Kozara is a Dynaric mountain covered by forest, an air spa which offers all conditions for sports and recreational activities during the whole year. Although Kozara has a relatively law altitude, a large nuber of teep slopes, rocky areas, valleys and depressions are present. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Temperate continental climate, a lot of sunny days and gentle mountain peaks give special value to this mountain.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Fir and beech forests dominate on the north side of the mountain, whereas forests of oak and conifer cover such as black pine, white pine and spruce cover slopes on the south side of Kozara.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Natural beauties of Kozara mountain and its diverse landscape attract mountaineering and hunting associations from Prijedor,\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"\u041a\u043e\u0437\u0430\u0440\u0441\u043a\u0430 \u0414\u0443\u0431\u0438\u0446\u0430\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.wikipedia.org\/sr-el\/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0_%D0%94%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B0\">Kozarska Dubic<\/a>a, Banja Luka and\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"\u0413\u0440\u0430\u0434\u0438\u0448\u043a\u0430\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.wikipedia.org\/sr-el\/%D0%93%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%88%D0%BA%D0%B0\">Gradi\u0161k<\/a>a. Kozara is a gentle mountain, rich in wildlife. The most common animals are: roe deer, wild boar, fox, rabbit, pheasant, wild duck and partridge. In this part of the Balkans similar hunting area is rare.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Many clear rivers and streams rich in trot spring up in this area. The area of Kozara and Potkozarje has \u00a0huge natural, cultural, recreational and other values. In the area of Kozara mountain Mlje\u010danica, Crna rijeka, Vrba\u0161ka, Mo\u0161tanica and Starenica rivers spring up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Sana<\/strong><strong>\u00a0River<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The basic hydrographic feature of Prijedor municipality is the Sana river with its tributaries. The Sana river springs up near Medna in Ribnik municipality and it flows into the Una river in Novi Grad municipality. Its course connects six municipalities, which are Ribnik, Kljuc, Sanski Most, Ostra Luka, Prijedor and Novi Grad. A legend says that the name has its origin in Latin word\u00a0<em>sana<\/em>\u00a0meaning healthy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the past the Sana river was of great importance for Prijedor because of its navigability which brought opportunities for trading. In the 19th century, Prijedor\u2019s merchant fleet had more than 70 boats, each with 20-ton capacity<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Many kinds of fish, such as trout and huchen can be found in the upper course of the Sana river. In the middle and lower course of the river carp, sheatfish, perch and rudd can be found.\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Gomjenica river, a right tributary of the Sana river, in its lower course flows trough Prijedor. It has fan-shaped basin, what makes a higher concentration of water.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Puharska river has a torrential character and it never dries up. In the lower course it has been regulated and channeled into an open sewer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the area of Prijedor municipality there are 4 lakes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sanicani, an artificial lake &#8211; fishpond. The Sanicani fishpond was established in 1903, and in addition to its main activity of fish production, it runs a commercial hunting area of 40 km\u00b2. Small game, wild ducks, pheasants and other birds are hunted here;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ljubija, an artificial lake is located 15 km south west of Prijedor;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Tomasica, is located 20 km south of Prijedor;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Gradina, is located 25 km south east of Prijedor.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitprijedor.com\/new\/images\/turisticka-organizacija-prijedor-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Prijedor municipality has a huge number of accommodation facilities at its disposal, starting with hotels, motels and apartments. Accommodation facilities are separated into different categories and they can satisfy different demands of domestic and foreign tourists. Some of the accommodation facilities are located in the centre of the town, while others are located in the periphery of the municipality. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">There are also restaurants with domestic and international cuisine for everyone who wants to enjoy culinary specialities of this area within the accommodation facilities.
