During the General Assembly of the FCI European Section on 7th September 2015 in Oslo/Norway the Austrian Kennel Club (ÖKV) has been elected to organize the European Dog Show 2019.

The Executive Board of the Austrian Kennel Club would like to thank all the delegates of the FCI European Section member countries, who has voted for Wels as host city and Austria as organizer.

We are very proud to be able to organize this major cynologic event in Austria.

How to get there

By car:
use the motorways A1, A8 exit „Wels West“ for your arrival.

Note: In Austria there is a vignette on highways. A week pass costs € 9,– and is valid for 10 days. Available at petrol stations near the motorway.

By train:
The main railway station of Wels (Westbahn) is approximately 1 km away from the fairgrounds.

By air:
The International Airport Linz Hörsching is about 7 km from the fairgrounds.

 Rules of the event

The European Dog Show and Austrian Winner will be held under the patronage of FCI and according to the regulations of FCI. The shows shall be based on the show regulations of FCI and ÖKV. During the evaluation in the rings, the exhibitors/dealers and their dogs are not permitted to undertake any advertising for products, companies, or organisations without the consent of ÖKV.

Cropped or docked dogs born after 1/1/2008 can’t be exhibited in Austria!

Any spraying, dying, chalking, blow-drying, curling of the heir as well as any longer stay of the dog at the grooming table with grooming arm, etc. is not permitted.  Objections may only be considered on the show day.

Veterinary regulations

Entry into Austria or entry to the show, resp., are only permitted with a vaccination against rabies recorded in the international vaccination cerificate. The vaccination must have taken place at least 30 days before entry and must be valid according with the manufacturer’s date of vaccine.

Cropped or docked dogs born after 1 January 2008 can’t be exhibited in Austria!

The exhibiting of dogs with tortured breeding characteristics (for example dogs with difficulty in breathing, hairless dogs with a strong tooth outnumbered or toothless) is prohibited!

Due to the change in the Austrian Animal Welfare Act, we point out that the use of choke collars without stop mechanism is illegal and therfore prohibited.

Important notes

The confirmation of acceptance must be brought along to the show in any case.
If no copy of the required award of title or of the FCI working dog certificate, resp., is included in your application for the Champion or Working Dog Classes, your dog will be rescheduled to the Open Class.
The exhibitor him-/herself shall be responsible for the timely presentation of the dog.
The dogs must not be removed from the exhibition premises before the end of the show.
With their registration, all exhibitors acknowledge the FCI / ÖKV show regulations and the valid animal protection regulations.

Registrations

Only dogs are permitted, which are registered in a FCI-approved pedigree or register, resp., and have achieved the minimum age of 6 months. The data in the registration form have to be entered in a legible manner.
Registrations not filled in completely, or for which the required copies (pedigree, proof of payment, champion certificate, FCI working dog certificate) are missing, are not accepted.

Competitions in the Main Ring – European Dog Show

Best Puppy

From all dogs evaluated with “Very Promising”, the best one is selected.

Best Veteran

From all dogs evaluated with “Excellent 1”, the best one is selected.

Pair Class

2 dogs of the same breed (dog and bitch), having the same owner.

Breeding Group

At least 3 dogs, however, 5 dogs at most of the same breed with the same kennel name (must not have the same owner).

BOG: Best of Group

Will be selected daily in the Main Ring from the breeds’ best of the FCI Groups

Best Junior of Day

Will be selected from all Junior Winners every Day.

BIS: Best in show

Will be selected from all Group Winners on Sunday.

Best Puppy

From all dogs evaluated with “Very Promising”, the best one is selected.
